Movie Monday - Moulin Rouge

Welcome to Movie Monday. On a Monday I pick a movie from the ones I've watched in the last week, and highlight what I think is the film's memorable moment.

This week - Moulin Rouge

"Seasons may change, winter to spring
But I love you, until the end of time
 Come what may."

Memorable Moment - I've lost count how many times I've seen Moulin Rouge. It's one of my go-to films because I love it so much and never tire of it. The music is spectacular, the costumes stunning, the love story heartwarming, funny and tragic all at once. I love to watch this movie and sing along. It's a fun experience!

My memorable moment has got to be when Satine sings 'Come What May' to Christian as he is walking out of the theatre. She has lied to him to make him believe she doesn't love him, but when she sings this song Satine proves to Christian once and for all that she loves him no matter what, come what may. It's a beautiful song and a touching moment in the film, especially given what happens to Satine shortly afterwards. And I think it is wonderfully acted by Ewan McGregor in particular, as his character Christian must move from heartbroken to euphoric during this scene. It's a magical moment shared between two lovers. For a hopeless romantic like me, this scene sums up why I adore love stories.
