The Marvel Cinematic Universe

Firstly, I must admit that I've never read a comic book in my life. I've come to know the Marvel Superheroes only through the movies. Yep I'm one of those awful latecomers that comic fans sneer at. I really do need to start reading those comic books...

Nevertheless, I still consider myself a die-hard Marvel fan. To say I adore all the movies is an understatement. After I saw The Avengers I was on a high akin to the strongest drug out there (I assume!). I was walking around with a gigantic smile on my face all day. It was embarrassing.

The other day I saw the latest Marvel installment - Captain America: The Winter Soldier. It was ace. That's right - ace! :-) Having just re-watched the first Cap film in preparation, I was happy to discover the sequel blew the original out of the (lukewarm) water. Winter Soldier was bigger and better in every way. The fights were spectacular and the gags were downright hilarious. I loved it all.

I'm in awe of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The whole idea of cross-overs and tie-ins and all that jazz makes me giddy inside. Yes that's how much of a film nerd I am. :-) I love imagining this other universe where superheroes 'assemble' to fight the baddies, and in between they go on solo adventures too. Not only does Marvel's yearly or twice-yearly release schedule satisfy my movie longings, but the entire shared universe concept allows my imagination to soar. At this very moment I'm picturing Steve Rogers and Tony Stark chillin' at a bar together. That happens, right? ;-)

Yep. I'm a big fan of fake universes.

  1. I have to ask, given you're a fan of the universe... are you an Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. fan too?! x
